Highlander is the main variety planted by large onion farmers in the northeastern United States for early marketing. Excellent yield potential with primarily jumbo production. Since Highlander is an extra-early maturing variety, these onion plants can be planted in all the intermediate day areas, as well as the long day areas. Highlander onions will store up to five months. With its tight, thin neck it Highlander onions are easy to cure. Highlander is tolerant to botrytis and downy mildew, the two most common diseases in onions.
